So today was crazy. I took that quote to heart last night and was pumped for a great day! It really started out that way: got up early, went out on a walk to the park, yada yada yada, moved the car b/c it was sweeping...
and then forgot about the car, which was double parked.
and then remembered, and ran out to see it...
but it had disappeared.
yes, we have heard wonderful stories about parking in new york, and all the tickets. i thought we could get buy without making those same mistakes. well, after paying $185 to the towing company ,and $105 to the state for my fine, i may think differently. but i feel more like a new yorker than ever!
and then they of course make you feel stupid for having your car towed when you go and try and retrieve it. i waited in line/sitting for over an hour. this was okay because i got to watch all the other people that were punked. the jewish family with five kids (four boys) whose dad was more than slightly apprehensive, the two latino guys with two kids walking around who didn't seem to care much, the two spanish ladies who were concerned about who was going to pay with what credit card(mom and daughter), the lady who had already had her car towed twice in the last week (OUCH!).
haha, and then we went to pick up shirin from la guardia airport, at like midnight, and on the way back the cop had parked his car in the middle of the highway in order to stop traffic forever. that was nice. i think they were checking cars. we didn't get that opportunity, fortunately, as we had 4 bags of luggage.
so then to continue this great car episode i had to find a parking spot at 2:15 in the morning. which took til about 3.
so much for my test of thoreau's words.
honestly, though, it was more humorous than anything. besides being out all that money.
picture: kind of lame, didn't bring the cable to starbucks.
Wow...that's an expensive place to park. I like the Throeau quote!
