Wynn and James, and Shirin came to town this weekend to see us and partake of the H+H bagel. W+J left today, Shirin leaves Tuesday.
It was so refreshing to have family around. I had this idea that we had to take them around and be a tour guide and show them the best of NYC (as if I knew as much). I appreciated when they said that they came to see US, and they didn't care as much about NYC. I am sure all our guests won't be so generous, but that meant a lot to me.
My reading of Walden has brought the wilderness back inside of me, while I walk around this somewhat stifling and smelly city. In a similar fashion, I really felt that the peaceful, content Maine-rds brought a similar feel this weekend.
Maybe this is why I appreciated so much that Leanna and Nate went to Lake Superior this weekend on a birthday get-away--if you have experienced Lake Superior as I have, it's like drinking up the words of Walden.
On another note, it's different having an audience, if I do have one. I suppose I will be more thoughtful of the audience than my own words, and probably leave some of the juicy stuff out.
The Museum of Natural History was AMAZING!!! Almost as good as "Night at the Museum". But not quite. Then again, we only saw like half of one floor.
Right, I didn't take the pictures of me. Nice shot, Libby--quite the eye!
ReplyDeleteGood post. Nice antlers. A couple more months and the Maine coast, or North Shore, Blue Lake, or the Wasatch front will feel like heaven. Dad M
