The lighting equipment was nothing but the best: one cheap Ikea standing lamp, and two desk lamps. For the background we have my mom to thank, who shipped us a fabulous home-warming package, which included a white blanket (I put a paper towel under the shoes, no worries). Kah Poon taught me the other day while setting up for him that in order to wash out the background, it has to be at least 2 f-stops above the foreground (thank you Ansel Adams for your zone system theory).
I had to shoot everything at f/2.8, and my shutter speed was around 1/60; I believe I shot at ISO 400. So there wasn't much light, but the pictures turned out the way I wanted them to, with a little brightening from iPhoto.
Rest in peace, my friends.

Nice pictures, superman...first you ruthlessly kill those shoes, then you bring them back to life. dad
