Back in early December Lib and I went on this fantastic date. We first hit up Rockefeller lights, then the Museum of Modern Art, then to a great restaurant down in East Village. Among our favorites at the MoMa are the huge paintings by Mark Rothko. If you haven't seen one, do the google. I think it'll be worth your time.
Anyways later on, inspired by his work, we stopped to take a photo down near Union Square on 14th. It was night, a street light with its dirty yellow hue was perched aside a towering building, with a water tower silhouetted by the brown hazy sky. For some reason, the gritty out of focus image spoke of a story. And for some reason, that image ended up revitalizing my passion for photography.
All that is to say is that I love Rothko's work, and I'm unashamed of saying that this picture is perhaps my best attempt yet to copy him. Thanks to Marshall Hogan (whose photos are awesome by the way) who first saw the light for this one.

Mark Rothko is safe to say probably my favorite artist, I absolutely love his art. What a great date for you and Libby.

*that's definitely one of my top 3 photographs you've taken. I'd love to get some of your pictures. Interested in any trades? Love the color! ( would you want to use our portrait lens for a while?) we could send it out to you to play with for a bit-
Heath you're the best. Thanks for the comments. I'd love to borrow the lens - we'll talk more offline.
